SCSBC Christian Perspectives Course

Teachers eager to create and teach curriculum units built on a solid biblical worldview invested their time this summer in professional development by attending the course Designing Formational Learning Experiences, which was offered in two locations. The Island participants (shown above) were instructed by Joanne den Boer. The Lower Mainland group was led by Darryl De Boer and Doug Monsma.

Valley Christian School Dedication

Valley Christian School marked the opening of their new facilities with a day of joyous celebration that included ribbon cutting by Paul and Nathan Burns. Looking on are principal, Kevin Honey, CTABC executive director, Peter Van Huizen, SCSBC executive director, Henry Contant, school board chair – Kelsey Manning, Mission mayor, Ted Adlem, and city councillor, David Hensman.

Educators Leadership Development Institute

The 15th annual ELDI took place from July 7 to 11, 2014, at Cedar Springs Christian Retreat Center, just across the border in Sumas, Washington. Eighteen teachers who are exploring God’s call to leadership, including eight from SCSBC, spent the week studying with seasoned Christian school educators from SCSBC, PCCE, Christian Schools International and Calvin College.

Abbotsford Christian 60th Anniversary Celebration

At the 60th Anniversary Celebration Evening on Friday, June 20, an overflow crowd of supporters, parents, grandparents and alumni took a journey through time. By means of dramatic monologues written and directed by Bill de Jager, they experienced moments from ACS history. The celebration continued the next day with a country fair, alumni booths, main stage, and many kids’ activities.

Christian School Leadership Legacy Award

Northside Christian School staff and 15 students attended a LeaderCast 2014 simulcast where principal Michael Shenk was asked to share Northside’s leadership goals with the group of local business leaders and was honoured with the John Bowman Leadership Legacy Award “for advancing and investing in leadership principles and for your service to the community”. Northside was recognized for their initiative in the development of leaders by Leadership Legacy. “I was very pleased that again a Christian school was showcased for innovation and leadership, and want to thank the SCSBC for the support that helps us achieve our goals.” – Michael ShenkNorthside Christian Legacy Award
